Codenamed “Wilma,” Linux Mint 22 today released a Beta update based on the Linux 6.8 kernel that brings new wallpapers, introduces a new software manager, and improves language support.
What’s New:
Software manager
Linux Mint 22 mainly introduces a new software manager that opens the main window faster, even before loading content.
The team has also updated the software Manager to include a warning that flatpak packages are unverified – the Mint team recommends against installing such packages.
Improved language support
After the end of the previous installation, the user could not remove the pre-installed language that was no longer needed from the system by normal means, and needed to use some additional skills or tools.
Linux Mint 22 Beta fixes this issue by removing unused languages at the end of the installation, reducing the post-installation disk footprint. Pre-installed packages in languages other than English and your chosen language are removed at the end of the installation.
These ISOs also come with language packs for English, German, Spanish, French, Russian, Portuguese, Dutch, and Italian, so users can use these languages when installing offline.
New wallpaper
Linux Mint 22 features the services of Ashish Kumar Senapati, Joseph Corl, Jigar Panchal, Karsten Winegeart, Meiying Ng, Milad Fakurian, Mohamed Superb wallpapers by Nohassi, Marek Piwnicki, Pierre Blache, Simon Lee and Zoltan Tasi.
Additional improvements to the IT House with Linux Mint 22 Beta:
