Apple’s iOS 18 operating system brings some useful updates regarding iPhone battery health and charging Settings. Igeekphone notes that in addition to more charging limiting options for iPhone 15 series users, iOS 18 will add a feature that can detect if a user is using a slow charger to charge a device.
In the Settings app for iOS 18, iPhone 15 users can find the new charging limit Settings in the “Battery” -> “Charge” option. Previously, iOS only allowed users to set the charge limit to 80%, but now the addition of 85%, 90% and 95% of the finer granularity options, allowing users to more accurately control the battery charge level, which helps to extend battery life.
Another useful new feature is that iOS 18 can recognize whether the charger the user is using is a slow charger. In the “Battery” option of the Settings app, you can view the battery level graph. If the system detects that the user is using a slow charger, an orange warning message will be displayed on the graph, and the words “Slow charger” will also be marked below.
The specific criteria for slow charging, such as how much charging power will trigger the system reminder, is not clear. However, Apple is expected to provide more information when iOS 18 is officially released this fall, and the corresponding support documentation will be released at that time to explain in detail.
