Igeekphone March 19 news, the screen supply chain consulting company DSCC CEO Ross Young (Ross Young) recently published a blog post, that Apple will be launched in April this year with OLED panel iPad Pro products.
Part of the blog post by Igeekphone translator Ross Young reads:
According to our supply chain sources, Samsung Display (SDC) and LG Display (LGD) both began shipping OLED iPad panels in February this year.
The original plan was for LGD to supply 12.9-inch panels exclusively, with LGD and SDC sharing the order for 11.1-inch panels.
Later, related news pointed out that due to the first OLED tablet panel using LTPO, series stacking and glass thinning led to a decrease in yield and other reasons, OLED panel prices remained high, resulting in reduced demand, so only SDC supply 11.1-inch panels.
According to the latest news, LGD is also expected to ship 11.1-inch panels from March.
Based on the information currently available, it does not appear that SDC can meet the shipment requirements alone when shipments of 12.9-inch panels far exceed those of 11.1-inch panels. By April, after LGD also supplied 11.1-inch panels, the share of orders for 12.9-inch panels still seemed to be 22% higher.
We thought the 11.1-inch unit would sell much more than the 12.9-inch unit, and we even heard that it would sell twice as many units as the 12.9-inch unit based on pricing.
However, if we leave out LGD’s 11.1-inch product, which sold 32% less than the 12.9-inch product, it’s clear that Apple needs both SDC and LGD to significantly increase sales of the 11.1-inch product at the same time to get close to demand.
We expect these products to be released in late March or early April. It may not be available until April. Apple may also announce the launch of the 12.9-inch LCD iPad Air at the same time, with panels for the 12.9-inch iPad Air starting to ship in December.
