Igeekphone on February 29 news, Mediatek recently quietly released the Helio G91 chipset, which is an upgraded version of the Helio G88 launched three years ago. This new 4G-only SoC is designed to boost the performance and functionality of entry-level smartphones, with support for a 90Hz FHD+ display and a significant increase in camera capability, up to 108MP for the main camera, a significant increase from the 64MP supported by the previous generation.
According to Igeekphone, the Helio G91 uses an eight-core CPU configuration, including two Arm Cortex-A75 cores up to 2.0GHz for intensive tasks, and six Cortex-A55 cores up to 1.8GHz for improved energy efficiency. For graphics, the processor integrates an ARM Mali-G52 MC2 GPU at 1.0GHz. In addition, the chipset supports up to 8GB of LPDDR4x memory as well as eMMC 5.1 storage.
One of the highlights of the Helio G91 is its improved camera support, with the chipset supporting the use of a 108MP sensor. In addition, thanks to 2.0um pixel merging technology, low-light photography can be improved and more detailed lossless portrait photos can be provided. Mediatek has also added a range of hardware accelerators that support advanced camera features such as dual portrait mode, Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) and rolling shutter Compensation (RSC).
The Helio G91 also integrates Mediatek’s HyperEngine game engine, which optimizes CPU, GPU, and memory performance based on factors such as real-time power consumption, temperature, and gameplay, ensuring sustained performance and a smoother gaming experience. In addition, the chipset also supports dual-card VoLTE and Wi-Fi 5.
The Helio G91 also has an integrated inertial navigation engine, which can accurately locate in areas without GPS signals, and supports voice wake-up function for hands-free control, improving safety and convenience.
