According to the Russian “Izvestia” reported on August 22, since March 1, 2024, Russia will ban the sale of flavored electronic cigarettes. Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Health has prepared a list of banned additives.
The Ministry of Health has prepared a list of flavorings that are thought to make nicotine vapes more appealing. These fragrances include food flavors such as fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices, ginger and cinnamon, as well as sweeteners such as peanut syrup, honey, stevia and maple syrup. Although these fragrances are widely used in food, the Ministry of Health believes they may increase the appeal of e-cigarettes to young people.
The list will reportedly come into effect on March 1, 2024.
According to the Russian Nicotine Federation, the list is currently being reviewed by the Russian Tobacco Expert Committee, and after the review, it will be handed over to the state government for decision-making.
