According to wtnh, the number of children using e-cigarette products in Connecticut has skyrocketed in the past two years, increasing by 47 percent.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and other lawmakers and advocates are pushing for some new initiatives on teen e-cigarette use. One of their first priorities is to ban flavored e-cigarette products.
“Usually, when you walk into the bathroom at school, you smell a fruit or candy smell. This is clearly a marketing strategy aimed at teenagers rather than adults.” “Said Samantha Patch, a member of the Connecticut Youth Advisory Council.
Blumenthal also introduced a bill that would create a new division of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to address youth vaping.
“It’s a disease,” Blumenthal said. Addiction is a disease. There will be an independent center to carry out a program to curb and stop more use of e-cigarettes and e-cigarettes.”
