Soon, a virtual reality headset called Visor will be available to improve work efficiency. Developed by Immersed, the Visor results from a strategic partnership with Qualcomm, Intel, and an undisclosed AR/VR tech giant. This headset aims to enhance productivity and is designed explicitly with Immersed’s virtual reality office software.
Immersed currently offers a free VR app allowing users to utilize their computer monitors in virtual reality and create additional virtual monitors, enabling them to work with up to five monitors simultaneously. The app, known as “the world’s most popular spatial computing software,” has already attracted users who spend 40-50 hours a week in Immersed.
However, unlike general-purpose standalone headsets like Meta Quest and Pico, which have a heavy build and lower resolution, Immersed’s Visor promises a lighter and more comfortable design with a single-eye 4K Micro OLED display. The Visor also supports “high-definition” color see-through, allowing users to view the natural world using the headset.
The Visor’s unique hardware-software approach ensures that users can quickly access their virtual workspace after their computer boots up. The headset’s integrated internal tracking system and wireless capabilities distinguish it from wired headsets like Bigscreen Beyond. Although the Visor is unsuitable for gaming or social platforms, it excels as a productivity tool.
Immersed plans to release the Visor in 2024 and pre-order invitations will be available later this year. While the price has not been announced yet, Immersed assures it will be lower than $3,500.
