Since the Nubia Z40 series, Nubia has always used the 35mm focal length as the primary camera. This strategy has been verified for more than a year and has proven to be very successful. A few days ago, Nubia officially released the Nubia Z50S Pro, which is equipped with a new generation of 35mm customized large aperture lens module coupled with the super large aperture of f/1.59, which significantly improves the light sensitivity of the primary camera, thus creating the mobile phone camera with the most significant amount of light in the industry.
The clear aperture of the Nubia Z50S Pro 35mm primary camera reaches the industry’s giant primary camera of 5.21mm, and the amount of light entering is 34% higher than that of the previous generation. The significant light input will bring a better optical blur effect and better night scene imaging.
In addition, the Nubia Z50S Pro has further improved its capture capability, claiming that its capture image effect can even surpass that of a professional micro-single camera.
What is the actual situation? We just got this phone, too, so let’s find out through the experience below whether it is as advertised by the manufacturer.
Nubia Z50S Pro is also not stingy in terms of performance. For the first time, it adopts the leading version of the second-generation Snapdragon 8 mobile platform, and both CPU and GPU are upgraded, bringing users an unprecedented extreme performance experience.
Design & Appearance
The back panel of the mobile phone uses a whole piece of glass, but on the surface of the glass, AG flash sand glass is used on one side, and black leather is used on the other. This three-dimensional etching process makes the mobile phone present two textures of glass and calfskin.

Cameras
The Nubia Z50S Pro has three rear cameras. The primary camera uses the Sony IMX800 with 1/1.56-inch actual light sensitivity. Through Nubia’s in-depth customization, the light input of this CMOS is 34% higher than that of the previous generation. The 1G+6P optical lens effectively improves the purple fringing phenomenon in photos.
The ultra-wide-angle lens uses the 50-megapixel OV50D04 CMOS, 13mm equivalent focal length, 125° super-large field of view, ultra-low distortion, and can shoot macro. The telephoto lens uses an 8-megapixel Hi847 sensor with an equal focal length of 80mm. Compared with the primary camera, it achieves 2.3x optical zoom and supports OIS visual image stabilization.
Real shot proofs
It can be seen from the shooting proofs that in the daytime scene, the pictures taken by Nubia Z50S Pro show a wide dynamic range, rich layering, and a three-dimensional sense of the image, and the use of the 35mm focal length can better highlight the main body of the picture. Increasing the contrast and saturation in the daytime is unnecessary, and the idea is more inclined to the actual scene seen by the human eye.
In the telephoto part, combined with OIS optical image stabilization, the Nubia Z50S Pro telephoto pictures are stable and precise, and high-quality photos can be taken quickly.
The ultra-wide-angle part, the 125° super-large field of view, does not have a big gap with the primary camera regarding color display, but there will be slight glare problems in exposure control. Nubia Z50S Pro takes the picture on the left.
Let’s take a mobile phone with a one-inch camera and zoom in 1.5 times (equivalent to 35mm) to compare it with the same scene shot by the Nubia Z50S Pro. From the picture, we can see that the brightness of the Z50S Pro’s screen is higher. Nubia Z50S Pro takes the image on the left.
After zooming in on the image, the difference comes out. The texture of the tree trunk taken by Nubia is visible. On the other hand, the primary camera with a one-inch outsole on the right has obvious out-of-focus, the tree trunk texture is blurred, and the picture has different degrees of distortion.
Night Samples
We used the Nubia Z50S Pro to take a lot of night scene samples. The combination of its 35mm custom focal length and f/1.59 super large aperture lens allows the phone to capture more light in a dark environment and suppress the highlights of neon lights in place. In a multi-color mixed background, the original color of the light can be accurately restored.
Secondly, Nubia’s camera can separate light from dark, and the dark areas next to the light, such as the textures and gaps between bricks and floor tiles, can be seen very clearly.
At night, the charm of this primary camera with super one-inch light sensitivity can be more reflected. We also use a mobile phone with a one-inch camera for comparison.
By comparison, the building taken by Nubia on the left has a higher degree of tolerance. After zooming in, you can see the scene inside the window. The picture taken by the one-inch camera on the right will appear exceptionally bright, and the details behind the window cannot be seen clearly after zooming in.
In this scene, Nubia’s color presentation is more uniform, and the high-saturation picture makes people look very comfortable. The photo taken by the one-inch camera on the right has too high brightness, giving people a dull color, and there is also the problem of astigmatism, which affects the overall picture.
Macro shooting effect
The 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with the Nubia Z50S Pro can be a macro lens in the exclusive camera family option. Turn on the macro mode to shoot flowers and other objects. Compared with the 2MP macro lenses, it can show more details and saturation. However, there are still specific requirements for the distance.
Snapshot effect experience
Nubia Z50S Pro has dramatically upgraded the lightning capture this time, and you can get ultra-clear imaging effects the moment you press the shutter.
When we take pictures of high-speed Mercedes-Benz cars and electric vehicles on the road, we can immediately get a clear picture without smear, which is not blurred, comparable to a professional SLR camera, and the convenience and filming rate of daily street photography is greatly improved.
Fun shooting
In addition to conventional video shooting, Nubia Z50S Pro has as many as 25 rich ways to play in its exclusive camera family. With these unique functions, you don’t need to learn superb shooting skills, and you can shoot the desired effect by choosing the appropriate mode.
Let’s enjoy the shocking proofs taken by using these exciting shooting functions:
Hardware and Performance
Nubia Z50S Pro uses the second-generation Snapdragon 8 mobile platform leading version chip for the first time in a direct-screen mobile phone. Its large-core central frequency has been increased from 3.19GHz to 3.36GHz, and the 680MHz Adreno 740 GPU has been increased to 719MHz, bringing double improvements in performance and graphics.
The version we got is the 12GB+256GB version. Regarding theoretical performance, we have also done a series of tests.
Theoretical performance test
The first is the AnTuTu comprehensive test. The V9 version ran a score of 1.3 million, and the latest V10 has a total score of 1.615 million, which is unrivaled among models of the same price.
CPU single test, GeekBench5 single-core score reached 1551 points, multi-core score went 4902.
The GeekBench6 single-core score reached 2041 points, and the multi-core score got 5465 points.
In the GPU test section, we used GFXBench to test six regular 1080P projects. Among them, the first three projects of Aztec Ruins OpenGL, Aztec Ruins Vulkan, and Racing Chase ran at frame rates of 160FPS, 187FPS, and 133FPS, respectively.
After the first three rounds of tests, the temperature of the mobile phone gradually increased, and the test results of the latter three items can reflect the performance of the mobile phone in high-rendering 3D games. Manhattan 3.1, Manhattan, and T-Rex ran 227FPS, 309FPS, and 452FPS, respectively.
On the whole, the GPU performance of the Nubia Z50S Pro is solid.
In the flash memory test project, the sequential read speed reaches 3.57GB/s, the sequential write speed reaches 27.66GB/s, the random read speed reaches 392.56MB/s, and the random write speed reaches 537.15MB/s, which is not far behind the flagship of the same gear.
In the memory test, the copy speed of Nubia Z50S Pro reached 19GB/s, and the write speed reached 54.5GB/s. Just looking at these two data running points, it has come to the speed standard of LPDDR5X + UFS4.0.
Gaming Test
In the game testing session, we selected three representative mainstream mobile game masterpieces, namely “QQ Speed,” “Call of Duty,” and “Yuanshin.” Under the indoor office environment of 26 degrees Celsius, the frame rate was given priority for testing. During the test, we recorded the frame rate, power consumption, and heating performance of the mobile phone in the game.
1. QQ Speed
In the QQ Speed mobile game, turn on the highest image quality, highest resolution, and exceptionally high frame rate; run a game; the average frame rate reaches 120.5FPS, and the game is smooth and smooth.
The power consumption has reached 4.68W, the frame energy consumption is 77.6mW, and the energy efficiency ratio reaches 25.75 frames/W.
In terms of temperature, the front of the phone is 41.1 degrees Celsius, and the back is 40.7 degrees Celsius. When you hold the phone horizontally to play games, you will gradually feel the heat getting higher and higher, but it will not be boiling.
2. Call of Duty
The Call of Duty mobile game can run at a maximum of 90 frames under smooth image quality. After a game, the average frame rate is stable at 90.5FPS, directly full frame, and the average fluctuation is only 0.1FPS.
The average power consumption has reached 3.76W, the frame energy consumption is 83.2mW, and the energy efficiency ratio reaches 24 frames/W, lower than King of Honor’s.
However, in terms of temperature, it is better than the king. The highest temperature on the front of the fuselage is 40.4 degrees Celsius, and the highest on the back is 40.5 degrees Celsius. You can still feel apparent heat accumulation when holding the phone, but it feels good.
3. Original God
Finally, there is the heavy-duty Yuanshen mobile game. With the highest image quality + 60 frame mode turned on, you can fight monsters while running the map. After 15 minutes of playing the game, the average frame rate can also be stabilized at 60.1FPS. Although there are a few minor fluctuations during the game, in terms of experience, there is almost no lag.
The violent performance output makes the mobile phone reach a power consumption of 6.33W, and the frame power consumption goes 105.4mW. As for why there is such high power consumption, let’s look down.
We checked how the CPU is called in the game, and the 3.36GHz Snapdragon 8 Gen2 keeps running at high frequency during the game.
The mobile phone is equipped with 3.19GHz Snapdragon 8 Gen2 when playing Yuanshen mobile games; its CPU calls are much lower than that of Nubia Z50S Pro and even nearly 74% lower than the usage rate of the 3.36GHz version, so this is also the main reason for the high power consumption of mobile phones.
The highest temperature on the front of the mobile phone reached 45.5 degrees Celsius, the back of the fuselage reached 45.2 degrees Celsius, and the temperature of the top middle frame reached 46.3 degrees Celsius.
At this time, it isn’t easy to hold the mobile phone, and the game needs to be changed in real-time to continue the game. Therefore, students with the conditions can install a radiator to play the game.
Battery
The Nubia Z50S Pro has a built-in 5100mAh large-capacity battery, which supports 80W wired fast charging. While ensuring long battery life, the power can quickly return to blood.
In this regard, we have conducted relevant tests on the charging and battery life of the Nubia Z50S Pro.
Charging test
We drained the power of the Nubia Z50S Pro to 1% and conducted a screen-off charging test. It can be charged 30% in 10 minutes, 59% in 20 minutes, 85% in half an hour, and finally fully charged in 38 minutes.
What needs to be said here is that Nubia Z50S Pro supports the ability of global charging separation for the first time. Simply put, when plugging in a charger, we can independently choose two power supply modes and charging.
In the power supply mode, in the face of relatively performance-intensive scenarios such as watching videos, streaming live broadcasts, and downloading large files, it can avoid high heat caused by high power and ensure that the phone runs at an average temperature.
Endurance test
For the battery life, we use a professional battery life test tool – the battery dog produced by Kuai Technology.
In terms of test items, we chose the extreme battery life test. We checked all the test items, including CPU high voltage, CPU multi-threading, AI recognition, picture browsing, video playback, and web browsing, simulating realistic usage scenarios, restoring the actual load to the greatest extent, and infinitely close to the real power consumption.
Before the test, we set the screen brightness of the Nubia Z50S Pro to 50%, turned off the automatic brightness; the refresh rate is the default and then started the test with 100% power.
When the remaining power is 20%, the battery dog gives a battery life of 8 hours and 10 minutes. After conversion, the entire battery life of the Z50S Pro can reach nearly 10 hours. This is a product that can be ranked second in the test effect. It is no problem to meet daily use.
