Restrictions on online sales of e-cigarettes in Italy are not as strong as expected, and the committee amendment approved by the Chamber of Deputies recognizes that e-cigarette products can be purchased online from other EU countries.
However, buyers are required to comply with the following requirements:
E-cigarettes must be delivered to a tobacco-shop or vape shop: Delivery of e-cigarettes can only take place in a tobacco-shop or vape shop.
In addition to tobacco shops and vape shops, products ordered from other EU countries can also be picked up at pharmacies and pharmacies authorized by the Customs and Monopoly Office. The buyer must indicate the choice of pick-up point at the time of ordering. Orders placed by any individual can only be collected by the purchaser himself (i.e. the order holder).
In-person delivery is required to determine the age of the buyer: Delivery to the buyer must be verified as an adult, and it is unclear whether the agency providing the delivery service will receive a service fee.
After the implementation decree is approved, it will take several months to see the new regulations take effect. It may also require an order from the Customs and Monopoly Office.
