According to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reported on July 5, the Salford Trading Standards Authority, with the assistance of Greater Manchester Police (GMP), seized 35,000 disposable electronic cigarettes and 3,500 bottles of e-cigarette liquid in an e-cigarette company.
According to the investigation, these products are illegal products, some of which contain more than 11 times the legal content.
Since January, Salford Trading Standards has seized almost 85,000 illegal e-cigarette products worth more than £650,000.
One of the products seized was a blueberry-flavored, beverage-shaped e-cigarette that may have been deliberately designed to target children, the department said
The head of Environment and Community Safety said: “It is shocking that some manufacturers are designing e-cigarettes to cater to children and it is hard to believe that local businesses are involved in this exploitation. I am very grateful to the people who complained to us about this, enabling our staff and the police to go and clear the shelves of these non-compliant and illegal products.” Properly regulated e-cigarettes can be a great way for adults to quit smoking, but non-smokers and people under the age of 18 should not use them because nicotine is highly addictive.”
