According to news released on June 12, details about the design and specifications of the Mi 14 have been revealed. The Xiaomi Mi 14 has undergone improvements in performance, screen quality, battery life, and imaging, while still maintaining its compact size. It boasts a 1.3mm ultra-narrow bezel, making it arguably the most beautiful Xiaomi mobile phone to date. The Mi 14 series is expected to be the first to feature the Snapdragon 8Gen3 processor, with a possible release in November 2023. Interested users should keep an eye out for further updates.
The Mi 14 will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8Gen3 processor and will offer LPDDR5x RAM and UFS4.0 storage options. The base version will be upgraded to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Based on current information, the Snapdragon 8Gen3 processor will prioritize power efficiency, with relatively conservative improvements in performance. Users can expect a seamless experience with minimal heat generation. The battery capacity has been increased from 4500mAh to 4700mAh, and it supports fast charging up to 90W via wired connection and 50W via wireless charging. This combination of improvements should result in enhanced battery life.
Thanks to the narrower body design, the screen size of the Mi 14 has been increased from 6.38 inches to 6.44 inches. The overall dimensions of the device are expected to remain the same. The screen resolution has been upgraded from 1080P to 1.5K, providing users with a more detailed visual experience. However, this upgrade may lead to slightly higher power consumption, which is why the battery capacity and charging power have been improved. The screen also supports 1920Hz high-frequency PWM dimming and a 120Hz refresh rate. It utilizes the latest C7 material from China Star Optoelectronics, allowing for ultra-thin 1.3mm bezels.
The Mi 14 features a 32-megapixel front-facing camera capable of recording up to 4K videos, while the Mi 13 Ultra’s front camera only supports up to 1080P60FPS video recording. The rear camera module retains the design language of the previous generation but has undergone significant hardware upgrades. It now includes a 50-megapixel main camera, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 50-megapixel vertical telephoto lens. The device offers up to 3.2 times optical zoom and continues to support the Leica imaging system. Thanks to these improvements, the telephoto experience of the Mi 14 is expected to be greatly enhanced, which is something users are eagerly anticipating.
Regarding the leaks about the Mi 14, Qi Ji expresses his thoughts as follows: The Mi 14 has undergone comprehensive upgrades while retaining its defining features, addressing some of the frequently complained about shortcomings. It is continuously striving to become the perfect compact flagship device. If these leaks turn out to be true, Qi Ji finds it challenging to identify any obvious flaws. However, he hopes that manufacturers will make efforts to release comparable compact smartphones with direct-screen technology, appealing to both consumers and businesses.
