This afternoon Mediatek unveiled its latest Dimensity 9200 + flagship chip, designed for gaming phones and an upgrade over last year’s high-end Dimensity 9200 with improved performance and efficiency.
Dimensity 9200 + chips are manufactured using Taiwan Semiconductor’s latest 4 nanometer process, which improves the CPU and GPU frequencies, making games run more smoothly. Antutu scored more than 1.36 million, refreshing the list record and occupying the first place of Android performance.
The processor for the Dimensity 9200 + chip consists of three parts: a Cortex-X3 core, three Cortex-A715 cores and four Cortex-A510 cores. The Cortex-X3 core is the most powerful, with a boost from 3.05GHz to 3.35GHz. The Cortex-A715 core and Cortex-A510 core are also upgraded from 2.85GHz and 1.8GHz to 3GHz and 2GHz respectively. The Dimensity 9200 + chip is powered by the Immortalis-G715 GPU, which improves the peak frequency by 17%.
In terms of gaming performance, Dimensity 9200+ is powered by the MediaTek HyperEngine 6.0 gaming engine, which supports hardware-level ray tracing. It also brings MediaTek Gaming Adaptive Control technology (MAGT), with power savings of up to 12%.
Dimensity 9200 + chip also supports WiFi-7, 5G New dual-Pass, Wi-Fi UltraSave power-saving technology, Wi-Fi Bluetooth Hyperconnection technology 3.0, and new generation Bluetooth Audio LE Audio.
Mediatek said the chip will be installed in a new iQOO Neo series, expected to be iQOO Neo8 Pro, debuting later this month.
Whether the chip can compete with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip remains to be tested by the market and users.
