In a tweet poking fun at Samsung’s interest in releasing weird screens, source @iice Universe shared a rendering of the exterior of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 foldable phone.
Galaxy Z Fold 5 features a new droplet hinge design that is expected to be lighter and thinner than its predecessor. Galaxy Z Fold 5 weighs 250 grams, 13 grams less than the Z Fold4. The thickness after folding is 13.4mm, which is slightly reduced compared to 14.2mm of Fold 4.
From the rendering picture, the external screen has a high proportion, with Infinity-O drilling front shot, and the right two edges are more rounded, which should improve the grip feel.
Galaxy Z Fold 5 ditches the traditional U-shaped hinge in favor of a new droplet hinge design. When the screen is folded, there is no gap between the two sides, and the folding phone can be made thinner. Samsung decided not to include the S Pen in its new foldable smartphone due to concerns about thickness and interior space.
