On Monday, the popular tech YouTuber and host of Front Page Tech, Jon Prosser, took to Twitter to share some exciting news for fans of Google’s Pixel smartphones. According to his tweet, Google is set to release two new models, the Pixel Fold and the Pixel 7a, at the upcoming I/O Developers Conference on May 10.
Prosser provided more details about the release dates for both phones. The Pixel Fold, the first foldable phone from Google, will be available in Chalk (white) and Obsidian (black), with pre-orders starting on May 30 for carrier partners. The phone is expected to be available for purchase on June 27.
On the other hand, the Pixel 7a will be released in four colors, Charcoal, Snow, Sea (light blue), and Coral (Google Store exclusive), with a release date set for May 10, the same day as the I/O Developers Conference. Unlike the Pixel Fold, there will be no pre-orders for the Pixel 7a. Prosser also revealed that the Pixel 6a will not be discontinued after the launch of the Pixel 7a.
In terms of design, the Pixel 7a will have a 6.1-inch OLED screen with a central punch-hole front camera and broader borders. However, the most significant change is the rear camera, which has been updated from a rectangular module to a horizontal strip module with a groove, giving it a sleek and stylish look. Additionally, the phone’s body material has been upgraded from plastic to metal, and the camera module has been changed from glass to matte aluminum.
In conclusion, fans of Google’s Pixel phones have much to look forward to with the upcoming release of the Pixel Fold and Pixel 7a. With its sleek design and new features, the Pixel 7a promises to be a significant upgrade from its predecessor, the Pixel 6a. Meanwhile, the Pixel Fold offers a unique experience with its foldable screen technology, which is sure to generate a lot of excitement among tech enthusiasts. It will be interesting to see how both phones are received by the public when they are released in the coming weeks.
