The WLtoys Q393, classified as a quadcopter, is controlled by a standalone remote controller, which means you’ll probably have to practice using it to get the hang of the controls. The WLtoys Q393 is a new smart-looking quadcopter aimed at folks looking to grab some basic aerial footage. It comes in a couple variants; with a built-in 2MP HD camera on the WiFi version and 5MP on the 5.8GHz variant.
Design
The WLtoys Q393 quadcopter itself is quite large at nearly 20 x 20 inches and weighing in at 410g, the body style is a pretty common one (you can only get so many variations) but it does seem to have some unique landing gear. The transmitter has a nice button layout, long sticks for more precise control, a large LCD display, and a mount for FPV on the top. Pretty nice looking transmitter and it’s obvious that some time went into the design of it. With this quadcopter you get up to 13 minutes of flight time however the battery is enclosed in a plastic casing which means you’re reliant on their batteries and can’t use your own without some modifications.
Hardware
The WLtoys Q393 is probably the first we’ve seen in a toy drone. It displays flight speed, altitude and battery level on a basic 4-channel transmitter that also comes with a supplied 4.3 inch 5.8G FPV monitor and receiver that can be mounted on the transmitter. features on-screen display of flying speed, altitude, battery level, and flight duration… which in my opinion is pretty cool and is something not usually seen on brushed quadcopters. Other features include: Altitude Hold, 3D rolls, Headless Mode and One Key Take Off / Land / Automatic Return. There’s still no GPS module so the latter feature might really lack in precision.
Feature
Wltoys WLtoys Q393 equipped with HD cameras, lets you control the aircraft and enjoy taking pictures/video of the pleasure flights. The WIFI enabled FPV camera is mounted on the aircraft, to broadcast the live video to the pilot on the ground, so that the pilot is flying the aircraft as if he/she is onboard the aircraft instead of looking at the it from the pilot’s actual ground position. In altitude hold mode, the aircraft maintains a consistent altitude while allowing roll, pitch, and yaw to be controlled normally. With headless mode, no need to adjust the position of aircraft before flying. One press automatically taking off or landing, rc quadcopter will take off or go back to the position where it took off. High-speed aerobatics, Just press the button on transmitter, and you get 360-degrees Flip, continuous roll for perfect action and wonderful performance. Intelligently detects low battery and returns home automatically. The creatively designed LED lights are fitted for night flight possibilities, leaving a beautiful landscape in the night sky.
Battery
Battery capacity is the most accurate way of determining overall battery life, and with a 2,600 mAh battery, the Q393 sports a large battery capacity that is 1,950 mAh larger than the average battery. Remember that the larger the battery, the heavier it is, which affects its ability to carry extra weight.
Conclusion
The WLtoys Q393 and while it is slightly more expensive I think it’s worth it due to the extra features you don’t normally find in something this size. Telemetry is useful when you’re flying at high altitudes and the dampened camera mount means you should get very stable video.
