Huawei will release a number of new products in March, including mobile phones, headphones and tablets, according to distributor “Uncle Kanshan”.
Specifically, the new products are the highly anticipated Huawei P60 series, Huawei Changxiang 60, Maimang 20 (acquired by China Telecom) phones, Freebuds Pro 2+, Freebuds 5 headphones, MatePad 11 2023 tablets and watch codenamed “Columbus”.
It has also been revealed that Huawei’s Mate X3 foldable phone will be released in March, possibly alongside Huawei’s P60 series.
The most mysterious of these new products is the Columbus watch. According to the blogger Fixfocus Digital, Huawei will launch a high-end watch priced at over 8,000 yuan, possibly the Columbus. If the price is correct, it will be the most expensive smartwatch Huawei has ever sold.
Coincidentally, after the exposure of “Columbus”, the blogger “Factory director is Guan” posted a post saying: “If the watch can realize satellite communication, can send satellite messages, how do you think” in the hint of “Columbus”?
It is not out of the question that Huawei is the only company in China that can send satellite messages to the masses from mobile phones.
It is understood that Huawei Mate 50 series takes the lead in supporting the hardware capability of Beidou satellite message. It is the first mass smartphone in the industry to support Beidou satellite message, which can send rescue information to the outside world in the case of emergency without ground network.
Not long ago, a “hiker” encountered heavy snow while hiking in Gonger Grassland in Inner Mongolia. Due to poor visibility and no signal in the area, he got separated from his teammates and lost contact. After that, he successfully escaped by sending a distress message to his teammates through the Beidou satellite communication function of Huawei mobile phone.

If the watch can also support Beidou satellite messaging, it will enable users who are not Huawei phones or have not bought Mate 50 series or Mate X2 to seek outside help in time when there is no ground network in distress.
