After the iPhone, Apple’s next revolutionary product will undoubtedly be the long-awaited VR headset (also known as the AR headset), the first of which is expected to launch in June, possibly with the Reality Pro.
But Apple’s stuff isn’t cheap. The Reality Pro headset’s main selling point is eye movement and hand tracking, and the latest beta shows that it doesn’t require an iPhone to work, unlike other products that require an iPhone to be connected to initialize.
The device itself has built-in sensors to read eye movements, and users can control it by staring at items on the screen, while pinching their thumb and forefinger together can activate tasks. In contrast, current VR headsets are largely dependent on joypads for control.
With new technologies such as silicon-based OLED, Apple’s headsets are expensive, and the final price is expected to be more than $3,000, or around 20,000 yuan.
The good news is that Apple will release more products in 2025. In addition to the high end models, there will also be more affordable low-end models for the second generation, though no word on how much cheaper they will be.
