Sources say Google Pixel Fold is heavier than Samsung Galaxy Fold 4, but also has a bigger battery.
After several iterations, Google appears to be getting closer to releasing its first foldable phone sometime this year. A source tells 9to5Google that the Pixel Fold will be a fairly heavy device, but will also have the largest battery of any foldable phone to date.
The exact dimensions of the Pixel Fold have been leaked, with previously exposed renderings suggesting it will most closely resemble the OPPO Find N2’s style. The two folding machines are about the same height, at 140mm, but the Pixel will be 7mm wide, just under 80mm. Another approximation is the Surface Duo, which is 5mm taller and 13.3mm wider than the Pixel Fold.
Also, the Pixel Fold is heavier than the 263g Z Fold 4, 250g for the original Surface Duo and 237g for the OPPO Find N. In fact, the Pixel Fold can already be thought of as the weight of a small tablet, noticeably heavier than the already fairly heavy Pixel 7 Pro.
It’s heavy, but the good thing about the Pixel Fold is that it’s much bigger than its competitors’ batteries. OPPO found the N2 at 4,520 mah (typical), and 9to5Google has learned that the Pixel Fold will be close to that, but still less than 5,000mah, which is unknown.

Battery life in current foldable devices has been unsatisfactory, and the thinner designs needed to make these devices practical often require a compromise on battery capacity. While there are plenty of folding machines on the market, the ideal shape isn’t there yet, and the Pixel Fold’s biggest competitive advantage may ultimately be software.
