Bigsreen has released a slim VR headset Beyond, which weighs only 127 grams, making it the smallest and lightest VR headset in the world.
The reason Beyond is so light is because of Pancake optics, a three-crystal optical design made up of glass, plastic polymer, film and coating.
For display, Beyond has dual built-in Micro-OLED displays, each with a resolution of 2560 x2560 pixels, and an overall resolution of up to 5120×2560, which is 2 to 3 times higher than the average VR headset resolution.
Beyond can customize the size of the headdisplay for each customer, and Bigscreen provides a dedicated scanning app that measures the user’s face shape and eye position, allowing the company to create a personal facial interface and determine the distance between pupils.
It’s worth noting that Beyond offers an optional audio headband, but it’s unclear how much it will cost.
However, Beyond has some limitations, such as the lack of eye tracking, face tracking, optical six-degree of freedom tracking, and wireless capabilities.
