A subsidiary of TCL, launched a new generation of binocular full-color MicroLED light waveguide AR glasses RayNeo X2 (Thunderbird X2) at CES 2023.
The AR glasses are equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 platform, equipped with 590mAh battery, 6GB memory, and 128GB storage space, and use binocular full-color MicroLED light waveguide display, which claims to have a brightness of up to 1000 nits, a contrast ratio of up to 100000:1, and supports 16.77 million colors.
TCL Thunderbird AR Glasses is equipped with a 16MP camera that supports functions such as still photos, videos, and time-lapse photography. Integrate natural display effects.
In the presentation of AR, Thunderbird X2 chose a way closer to Google Glass than Microsoft HoloLens. For example, it is equipped with intelligent GPS navigation functions. During the movement process, the screen information of Thunderbird X2 can be updated in real-time following the user’s itinerary, which is convenient for quick positioning and interaction.
The TCL Thunderbird AR Glasses can also pop up calls and messages, or real-time AI translation of human-to-human conversations. In addition, users can also use it to listen to music (it is said that there will be no sound leakage), and the camera can also shoot videos from the first perspective.
The Thunderbird X2 will be mass-produced and launched in the first half of 2023. Starting from the beginning of this year, TCL will provide relevant development kits to developers in specific regions, followed by commercial release.
