TCL announced three new, inexpensive smartphones and a tablet at CES 2023.
TCL 40 SE
The best-equipped phone in the new range is the TCL 40 SE. It has a 6.75-inch LCD screen with HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate, and a front-facing 8MP selfie camera. The phone also has stereo speakers.
The TCL 40 SE phone is powered by a Mediatek Helio G37 chip and has 4GB / 6GB of RAM and 128GB / 256GB of storage, which can be further expanded through a microSD slot. Rear 50MP main camera as well as 2MP macro camera and depth of field sensor. The phone comes pre-loaded with TCL UI 5.0 based on Android 13 and has a 5010 mAh battery with a charging speed of 18W.
The TCL 40 SE, which comes in gray and purple, will debut in Europe later in the first quarter for about $169.
TCL 408
The TCL 408 is a slightly cheaper alternative to the 40 SE at $129. It has a 6.6-inch LCD screen with HD+ resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate. Rear 50MP main camera and 2MP depth of field camera. Front-facing 8MP selfie camera.
The TCL 408 is powered by a Mediatek Helio P22 chip and has 4GB / 6GB of RAM and 128GB / 256GB of storage. The phone comes pre-loaded with Android 12 and has a 5,000mah battery with a 10W charging speed.
The TCL 408, available in gray and blue, costs $129 and will soon be available in Europe and Asia.
TCL 403
The TCL 403 is also a low-budget device with a 6-inch TFT IPS screen with a resolution of 480 x 960 pixels and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone has a front-facing 5MP selfie camera and a rear 8MP main camera. It comes with a Mediatek Helio A22 chip, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage.
The phone comes pre-loaded with Android 12 (Go version) and comes with a 3000 mAh battery that can be recharged via microUSB.
The TCL 403 is available in black and misty purple. Pricing and availability details are not provided.
TCL NxtPaper 12 Pro
TCL also announced the TCL NxtPaper 12 Pro tablet, which has a 12.2-inch screen with a resolution of 2,160 x 1,440 pixels and an aspect ratio of 3:2. With Mediatek Kompanio 800T chip and 8GB+256GB storage, it can be expandable through a microSD slot. Front 8MP camera, rear 13MP camera and LED flash.
The TCL tablet supports the E-Pen stylus with 8,192 pressure levels. The software is powered by Android 12 and has an 8000 mAh battery that is charged via USB-C. TCL also offers optional keyboard accessories that attach magnetically to the tablet via spring pins.

The TCL NxtPaper 12 Pro Wi-Fi version will cost $499 in the US, while the 5G model will cost $549 when it goes on sale later this year.
