The upcoming folding phone Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 began to be disclosed, which may correct two major problems that still exist in the predecessor Z Flip 4. DSCC analyst Ross Young said that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 will be equipped with a larger secondary display, about 3.3 inches to 3.4 inches, and the current Flip 4 has a 1.9-inch secondary screen.
According to Ross Young, the internal screen of Galaxy Z Flip 5 will also be upgraded, bringing a lighter crease. Specifically, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is said to feature a new hinge design that will “reduce the visibility of the gap.” It’s unclear if it will actually reduce the crease feeling.
As we know, Samsung only released the Galaxy Z Flip 4 at the end of August this year, and this device seems to be becoming the most successful folding screen phone so far.
According to the report, Samsung’s 2023 goal is to ship 26 million folding-screen Galaxy phones, and upgrading the Galaxy Z Flip 5 with a larger secondary screen and better hinges will certainly play an important role in this strategy. Samsung is expected to release the new Galaxy Z Flip 5 in August-September 2023.
