This morning, Qualcomm released a new generation of flagship SoC Snapdragon 8 Gen2. In terms of performance, the CPU is increased by 35%, the GPU is increased by 25%, and the AI performance is increased by 4.35 times. At the same time, it also brings support for cutting-edge technologies such as Wi-Fi 7, UFS 4.0, 2K 144Hz display, 8K 60P AV1 video decoding, and Bluetooth LE.
There are also many differences between the Snapdragon 8 Gen2, Snapdragon 8+/Snapdragon 8, and Snapdragon 888 in terms of paper specifications. If you are interested, you can refer to the chart.
It can be seen that the most squeezed toothpaste in these generations has always been the QC5.0 fast charge with the highest 100W. Maybe Qualcomm thinks that it can’t compete with the Chinese manufacturers’ own solutions on this point, and simply “abandoned the treatment”.
In my opinion, the more improvements of Snapdragon 8 Gen2 are energy efficiency improvement, support for 8K 60P AV1 decoding, support for LPDDR5X-4200 memory and UFS 4.0 flash memory, etc. selling point.
Another point worth noting is that the AA said that the small core Cortex-A510 of the Snapdragon8 Gen2 only supports 64 bits, that is, the first-generation A510 is used, not the v2 version. Whether this is the case remains to be further confirmed.
