Apple officially unveiled the iPhone 14 at an early morning event. Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro series has a large hole in the center to preserve the 3D face recognition function.
According to Weibo blogger @Digital chat station today, a new phone of Honor equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen2 chip is testing the same 13 megapixel selfie camera and ToF 3D sensor of Huawei Mate 50 series, and the rear lens is testing a 50 megapixel camera. Combined with the blogger’s previous revelations, the the new machine of Honor is likely to Honor Magic5 series.
Huawei’s Mate 50 series phones were officially released on Sept 6. Huawei Mate 50 Pro and Mate 50 RS Porsche design models use front-facing 13-megapixel selfie cameras and support intelligent variable ultra-wide angle from 78° to 100°. At the same time, both phones are equipped with 3D sensing cameras that enable 3D face recognition.
According to the blogger on September 1, the image and screen of the honor Magic5 series engineering machine have been upgraded. Previously, the blog revealed that Honor is testing 1/1.1-inch and 1-inch super outsole sensors, with the 1-inch professional outsole being enhanced in the area of light, which will greatly increase the sensitivity of light.
Honor released its Magic4 series phones on March 17, with a starting price of 3,999 yuan. Both the Honor Magic4 Pro and the Magic4 to Zhen use a front-facing ToF lens that supports 3D face recognition.

Public information shows that TOF is the full name of Time of flight (Time of flight), also known as Time of flight ranging method. The principle is that infrared light is emitted by infrared emitter, and the reflected infrared light is received by sensor, and then the distance of the target object is calculated by the time the infrared is reflected back. Through the TOF lens, the phone can realize 3D face recognition.
