The possibility of Qualcomm leaving Samsung has been speculated for some time. Among the reasons for the lower-than-expected performance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is the South Korean company’s manufacturing process. For the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, the creator of Snapdragon opted for TSMC Semiconductor, considered the best on the market. The choice paid off and the performance of the new chip delighted the American company.
Leaker Digital Chat Station claims that TSMC will manufacture the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (high-end chip) and Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 (intermediate chip) series for Qualcomm. In parallel, the Taiwanese manufacturer will also produce the Dimensity 9100 and Dimensity 8200, respectively MediaTek’s high-end and mid-range chips. In the previous generation of flagships, the Dimensity 9 series beat its rival Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. With the same crafting node, the scenario should change.
Some rumors point out that the second-generation SoCs of the Snapdragon 8 series will have more performance than the new Dimensity 9 rivals. Comparisons will take a while to arrive as Qualcomm will release the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 before the Dimensity 9000.
