The much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 officially launched tonight. It is described as Samsung’s most powerful and durable fold-screen device to date.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is available for pre-order from today and available overseas in Phantom Black, gray green, beige, and Burgundy (website only), the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will be priced the same as the previous generation. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 starts at $1,799 and will be available on August 26.
It is worth mentioning that Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is the first smartphone to launch with Android 12L (OneUI4.1.1). Google released Android 12L late last year for tablets and large-screen devices, with some optimized logic, Igeekphone has learned.
It is equipped with a 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, 12GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. The built-in 4400mAh battery supports 25W fast charging and 15W wireless charging, but there is no complimentary charger.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 comes with a 6.2-inch HD+ 13.1:9 aspect ratio Dynamic AMOLED 2X exterior screen, 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and 402PPI. Cosmetically, the new phone is slightly wider than its predecessor, but in reality the difference is barely noticeable.
It has a 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex interior with a 120Hz refresh rate, and also supports the S Pen, though it still lacks a slot.
The new device has a wider screen (374ppi) than the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Gorilla Glass Victus + covers the front and back, and a narrower bezal, weighing 263g, making it the lightest Samsung Galaxy Z Fold model to date.
For images, the new camera has a 50MP wide-angle master camera, 12MP ultra-wide-angle and 10MP telephoto sensors, 3x optical zoom and 30x digital zoom, a 10MP selfie lens on the front, and a 4MP downscreen camera on the inside.
Android 12L brings a number of new features to improve the experience of multitasking on larger devices, as well as a new taskbar layout, similar to the layout on a PC. It also supports new swiping gestures, and Samsung also announced that it’s teaming up with Google and Microsoft to bring a stronger software experience to the device.
