The Xiaomi 12 Ultra may be the first smartphone on the market to feature a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor. The novelty was commented on by the CEO this Tuesday morning (21).
According to Gizmochina, Mr. Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi has officially revealed a mysterious smartphone equipped with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. Although the exact name has not been announced, the source said that this could be the Xiaomi 12 Ultra.
In a post on Weibo, the CEO of Xiaomi said that Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (codename 8475) has made a huge leap in performance and internal power consumption. This processor was released last month and Xiaomi and Qualcomm spent a lot of time optimizing and debugging.
Lei Jun added, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is an upgraded version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. This high-end chip is manufactured on TSMC’s 4 nm process and 3 internal architectures include Cortex-X2 Core, Cortex-A710, and Cortex-A510 cores.
Previous reports also revealed that Xiaomi 12 Ultra will be equipped with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. However, experts still do not know which will be the first smartphone to own this powerful chip.
At the same time, Xiaomi has also partnered with Leica to develop the photography capabilities of this flagship. The launch of the upcoming Xiaomi 12 Ultra is scheduled for next month, or July 2022.
