Wirelessly controlled in-ear headphones are trendy. Independence from the cable means freedom. Mobile phones, laptops, or tablets deliver the music signal via Bluetooth, phone calls are possible via touch. Young people, in particular, are really into it. But does it have to be AirPods for currently €150 to enjoy the good sound and top wearing comfort? With the Tronsmart Onyx Ace Pro, the Far East-based audio company Tronsmart is sending a competitor into the ring that, at least on the outside, has what it takes to shake the AirPods throne.
With the Tronsmart Onyx Ace Pro, inexpensive headphones in the AirPod design are available on the market for true wireless Bluetooth headsets. In addition to a Qualcomm chip, technologies such as cVc 8.0 noise cancellation are installed in the headphones. They also have an IPX5 certification and are therefore also well suited for use in sports. You can find out what other features the Tronsmart Onyx Ace Pro offer and what our test verdict is in the following.

Unboxing
The small white-purple packaging with the orange tab contains the earphones along with the charging case, USB type C charging cable, warranty card, and user manual.
Design
The Tronsmart Onyx Ace Pro has a size of 39 x 16.5 x 16.8mm with a weight of 4g per earphone and 48 x 23 x 57.5mm with 37g for the charging case. 13mm drivers with an impedance of 32ohms and a frequency range of 20-20,000 Hz ensure the sound. A Qualcomm QCC3040 chip is installed in addition to the drivers. This supports various audio codecs such as aptX, AAC, and SBC.
Tronsmart has made an effort at the charging box which has a rather nice design. There are no edges, only rounded corners. The case is largely white but with a small chrome line that goes all the way around and which delimits the valve which opens and closes with a small chrome part also just below where there are four points which correspond to the percentage of remaining battery in the case. It is quite practical and pretty.
The inspiration for these Onyx Ace Pro is not to be sought very far. We’re on headphones that look like Apple Airpods. They fit easily into the ears, are above all very comfortable, and are easily forgotten. After having inserted them in his ears, we do not have the impression of being cut off from the world, the surrounding noises remain audible. The earbuds are light, comfortable, and look quite nice.
Hardware
Inside each earphone, both left and right, there are Qualcomm QCC3040 chips which allow the earphones to manage the AAC and Apt-X codecs in addition to the classic SBC codec. AAC is mainly used for Apple devices and Apt X for Android. Compared to the classic SBC codec found on all basic headphones, this provides better sound quality with a higher bit rate. Of course, if we are in a place where we cannot have a high bit rate, we will go directly to the SBC codec for better stability. In terms of sound quality, it’s pretty good.
Sound Quality
The call quality and the same level as the sound quality, ie good. The microphones are of good quality and we have no problem making ourselves understood when we speak and even understanding the person who is going to call us. The headphones have noise reduction during calls to reduce surrounding noise and it works quite well. They are therefore earphones with which we can take pleasure in making calls unlike other types of earphones that we will generally remove from the ears to take calls. An IPX5 certification is present to ensure water resistance, especially against splashes. Each headset can be used independently which can be useful in times when the battery starts to run low. Listening to music will not be optimal but listening to a radio program or even some of my videos may be sufficient.
Microphones
In addition to normal stereo, the Tronsmart Onyx Ace Pro is also able to be operated in mono. The headphones also have 4 microphones with environment noise cancellation and a hands-free function. In addition to the headphones, the scope of delivery also includes a charging cable, a user manual, and a warranty card.
Connectivity
In connection terms, everything on the Tronsmart Onyx Ace Pro is as it should be. The connection to the end device worked reliably and quickly. For our test, we connected the headphones to a Poco X3 Pro, and a Windows 10 PC via Bluetooth adapter, and there were no complications in all three cases. Of course, the battery level indicator depends on the end device – it worked reliably in our test. Furthermore, we were able to watch videos without any noticeable delay in the audio track, which is very pleasing. Thanks to the touch surfaces on the two headphones, the operation is simple. The meanings of the various patterns are internalized relatively quickly and all functions are always reliable. The Onyx Ace Pro can also inspire us in this regard.
Battery
As far as autonomy is concerned, each earphone has a 35mAh battery which allows an average listening time of 4h30. The case is equipped with a 400mAh battery, which corresponds to 6 full charges of the 2 headsets. Depending on whether you fully charge the case again or not after charging your earphones, slightly adjusted up or down depending on certain parameters such as the listening volume. To continue on the good things, there is a USB Type-C port to charge the case, which is pretty cool, some competitors still use micro USB. The USB/USB type-c cable is provided in the box, however, there is no main socket, you will either have to use a USB port like that of a PC or use the main socket of another device.
Verdict
In conclusion, it is going to be difficult for me not to recommend these Onyx Ace Pro. The sound quality is good, the value for money is good and for an approximate price of 35USD, it is largely the taf and even more. The Onyx Ace Pro True Wireless Earphones are well-made, but they are not pushed completely into the ear canal. They can be used in mono or stereo. When using a single headphone, the only problem is that the volume/quiet switch only works via the smartphone, since the right earphone is responsible for increasing the volume and the left one for reducing it. For the low price, however, you can buy good earphones with the Onyx Ace Pro.
