Google began beta testing of Android TV’s Android 13. As in previous years, developers with an ADT-3 development kit can download a system image.
The official did not announce the updated content of Android TV 13. The currently known improvements include picture-in-picture mode support for changing the aspect ratio and standby low-power mode, but these two improvements were not available in the first beta version.
Google has listed the known issues with the first beta preview of Android TV 13:
- Playback on some apps does not work when a Bluetooth headset is connected.
- In some cases, pressing the side button on the ADT-3 device will not activate Bluetooth device discovery. If the remote pairing is lost, this can be resolved by simulating remote input using ADB commands.
- The remote buttons cannot be reconfigured using the remote and accessories menu.
- The option to change HDMI-CEC control is currently missing from the remote control and accessories menu.
- When casting to a 4K TV, only the top left quarter of the image is displayed.
- In some cases, the remote does not work when an ADT-3 device is connected to an LG TV.
- 4K playback has a grey screen and noise when using the Google Play Movies app.
For iOS devices, the Google Home app cannot connect to the ADT-3 device and requires the Google Home app on the Android device or the ADT-3 remote.
