The parent company of Snapchat announced the launch of Snap’s Flying Camera Pixy, a flying camera. Pixy is a portable device with no controller. Users only need to press the button Pixy to enter the flight state, there are four preset flight routes to choose from. The camera can float in the air, fly along an orbit or track the user to shoot, and land in the user’s palm after shooting, which is called a “palm artifact”. As Snap envisions, Pixy is the equivalent of Snapchat’s companion product. Videos and photos taken by Pixy are automatically uploaded to the user’s Snapchat Memories, users can edit video photos and share them on other platforms, and Pixy can store up to 100 videos or 1,000 photos.
In terms of price, on Thursday, local time, the Pixy began to be sold in the United States and France, priced at $229.99 (about 1,500 yuan).
Users can get an extra battery for the Pixy for $19.99, and a dual-battery charger for an extra $49.99. If the default flight mode is selected, a full charge of the battery will allow the Pixy to fly 5-8 times.
It is worth noting that there is news that this drone is a cooperative development product of domestic drone manufacturer Zero Zero Technology. The Hover series and this drone launched by Zero Zero Technology in the early days belong to the selfie drone market.
Zero Technology was rumored to be acquired by Snap before. Seeing that this drone should not be an acquisition but cooperation. Pixy will not be sold in China, and it is expected that there will be new selfie drones in China in the future.
