According to apple’s internal confirmation, this year’s iPhone will still not use USB-C port, and the reason why it insists so is for profit, after all, apple certification standards can bring in a lot of revenue every year.
Apple’s Mac and iPad lines are usB-C ports, with the exception of the entry-level iPad, according to the report. Apple still uses the Lightning connector for its iPhone line, though the Pro model will speed it up.
According to the upstream supply chain, the Lightning interface is still USB 2.0 speed, which is not a technical limitation. Apple plans to upgrade lightning to USB 3.0 on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
In fact, Apple never applied USB 3.0 speed to the Lightning port on the iPhone line.
