Lu Weibing, president of Xiaomi Group China and general manager of Redmi, reposted a post on his Weibo account on the evening of April 9 with a mysterious new phone, which sparked heated discussion on the Internet.
Many netizens have speculated that Lu may be using Redmi’s upcoming Note 12 series, which are currently licensed for Internet use and have models 22041216UC and 22041216C.
Redmi Note 12 series will come in at least two models: Redmi Note 12 and Redmi Note 12 Pro.
Redmi Note 12 series is powered by mediatek Dimensity 8000 flagship processor, which is a “downcated version” of Dimensity 8100, according to @digitalChat.
Dimensity 8000 is based on TSMC’s 5nm process and consists of four Cortex A78 large cores and four Cortex A55 small cores with a 2.75ghz core (Dimensity 8100 has a 2.85ghz large core).
In addition, Redmi Note 12 series uses a mid-hole screen solution, which is not yet determined whether it is OLED or LCD, and is expected to support 67W super fast charging.
Redmi Note 12 is likely to debut around May.
