As OPPO officially unveiled its OPPO X 2021 roller-screen concept at the Future Of Technology Conference, handset makers are starting to follow suit. However, some manufacturers have found another way to apply the scroll screen to other equipment manufacturers.
Recently, foreign media Letsgodigital exposed a Samsung smartwatch patent, and this smartwatch is different, is the use of advanced scroll screen design.
According to the report, the patent was applied by Samsung Electronics to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on June 2, 2021 and was approved on December 9.
According to the patent, this is a Samsung Galaxy Watch with a retractable screen that looks similar to the Galaxy Watch in normal conditions. The screen, however, is not one piece, but two semicircular screens.
In the middle of the two semicircular screens, there will be a narrow frame, which is also used to flex the screen key design. There is also a camera on the frame for daily image shooting.
Users can control the expansion of the two semicircular screens through the crown on the side of the device. In addition, the screen can be controlled by sliding the screen. If the two screens are fully unfolded, the dial expands from a round to an oval, expanding its area by about 40%.
Of course, users can also choose to scale only one screen or both screens according to different application scenarios. However, it seems that if you want to use a camera, you also need to extend the screen.

However, it’s only a patent at the moment, and while the possibilities are detailed, it’s unclear whether Samsung plans to mass-produce the smartwatch. Perhaps Samsung will come out with a scroll screen phone before launching the smartwatch.
