In the smartphone industry, apart from Realme, Oppo, Vivo, many other brands are also preparing phones coming with fast chargers with more than 100W capacity. Now new reports have indicated that Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi may launch a model with 120W fast charging.
Because, Lu Weibing, president of Xiaomi Group China and general manager of the Redmi brand, posted on Weibo that Redmi Note 11 Pro+ can maintain a large 4500mAh battery while supporting 120W fast charging in seconds. So, the device can charge from zero to 100% in 15 minutes only, which is the fastest charging phone in the history of Redmi.
Besides, it uses customized IC solutions and self-developed algorithms to ensure the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the charging path. The charging efficiency of the customized high-efficiency charge pump is 98.5%, which can greatly reduce heat loss and improve the charging efficiency.
Customized independent MCU, with a self-designed protection algorithm, can monitor the charging system in real-time, and shut down the charging circuit in time when an abnormality occurs.
Compared with the traditional solution, this charging solution can gradually fine-tune the charging current, solve the charging speed loss caused by temperature rise and hysteresis, and effectively increase the charging speed by more than 10%.
Lu Weibing said that the cost of 120W fast charging devices is much higher, and under the background of global core shortage, the scarcity is even higher. At present, the average price of phones that support 120W fast charging in the world is more than $600, which is a technology that high-end flagships will only support.
