According to 9to5 Google, new evidence suggests that Pixel 7 phones will, as expected, have a Google Tensor 2 chip.
Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro go on sale today, the first models of Google’s new line of Tensor chips. With the help of Samsung, the Tensor chip has been optimized for widespread use of Google’s machine learning, in some cases accelerating existing features or enabling features previously unavailable on mobile phones.
While researching the apps included with Google’s Pixel 6, the APK Insight team found a new Pixel related codename, “Cloudripper.” Cloudripper is not a code name for next year’s Pixel 7 or Pixel 7 Pro, but the name of the baseboard or development pad that shares hardware with both phones, according to Cloudripper. A similar codename appeared earlier this year, with the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro being associated with “Slider.”
igeekphone has learned that Cloudripper is linked to a second generation Google Tensor chip, called GS201, based on documents previously viewed. Compared to the “GS101” in the Pixel 6, the chip appears to be an entire generation newer, suggesting that each year’s models could add up to 100. Mishaal Rahman also found this “GS201” in a recently revealed android code change.

With Cloudripper now included in Pixel-related apps, it seems likely that Google will use the second-generation Google Tensor GS201 chip for next year’s flagship Pixel 7. It’s unclear what enhancements the GS201 chip has, as no hardware details were found.
