Any wireless device sold in the United States must be approved by the FCC, making it a popular stop and a confirmation of upcoming products. Now the two new smartphones Google Pixel 6 (G9S9B) and Pixel 6 Pro (GLU0G) have passed this certification and could theoretically go on sale. Usually, it’s just a matter of form, but in this case, it also reveals another detail.
The recently announced UWB functionality will probably only be available in the Pixel 6 Pro. The Pixel 6 does not have this information, which would be absolutely necessary for the FCC.
And so we would have another difference between the two smartphones after the display, the battery, and the “missing” camera lens. Apart from that, the Pixel 6 Pro supports the mmWave 5G band n258, which is not the case with the smaller smartphone. However, this is a detail that is of no interest in this country.
The highlight of the Pixel 6 series will be Google’s own Tensor SoC. The Google Pixel 6 will feature a 6.4-inch Full HD + display with a 90Hz refresh rate, while the Google Pixel 6 Pro will have a 6.7-inch QHD + display with a 120Hz refresh.
The standard model is equipped with a dual camera, while the Pixel 6 Pro has a triple camera including wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle, and 4x telephoto lenses. Smartphones, as before, are aimed at high-quality photo enthusiasts, while the cameras use artificial intelligence along with machine learning.
Now that the regulatory hurdle has been overcome, Google could send out invitations to the event at any time, where the Pixel 6 smartphones and possibly other hardware will be presented. The Google Pixel 6 series is reported to be available for pre-order starting October 19 and will go on sale October 28.
