Several preview versions of Android 12 have already been released, with Google announcing that the official version will arrive “in the coming weeks.”
Today, XDA editor Mishaal Rahman released a release date for AOSP and said Android 12 is expected to launch together on October 4.
Android 12 brings a host of new features, including new animations, widgets, and a revised lock screen. Android 12 also offers the Material You dynamic theme, and some improvements in notifications, quick Settings, privacy, and security, as well as indicators when using the phone’s camera or microphone. And easier access to various permissions for all applications in one dashboard.
Pixel, OnePlus, Lenovo, Asus, OPPO, RealMe, Sharp, Tecno, TCL, Vivo, Xiaomi and ZTE are currently in Beta testing of Android 12, and will be followed by major manufacturers once the official version is released.

The latest generation of Google’s flagship phones, the Pixel 6 series, has yet to be officially released and is expected to be available with Android 12 pre-installed after October 4.
