One of the best ways to connect with your friends is by simply hanging out, but it can be difficult to really connect with someone these days. The era of social media has changed the way we interact with each other, and technology has made it easier for us to lose touch with our friends. So how do you make sure that you are able to truly bond together?
Well, if you want to have a deep conversation with one another or just find something fun that both of you will enjoy doing at home, then why not try playing some word games together? It’s easy for anyone to come up with ideas on their own about what kinds of games they’d like to play together. The only problem is that you need to really look at what kind of word games you will be able to play. Take the time to review some of these games so that you can find something fun and interesting for both you and your friends.
Scrabble
Scrabble is one of the most popular word games in the world. It’s not just fun because it’s simple, but also because it gets more challenging as the game goes on since players are only allowed seven letters each per round. Even though this game is easy enough for any beginner, it can become quite complicated when trying to rack up points with creative words that meet certain requirements in order to get bonus points during a round. When you get stuck, consider using a word unscrambler to help you out. Although there are no official house rules in Scrabble, it’s always fun when players get creative and make up their own rules to make the game more interesting. The possibilities are endless!
Cranium Cariboo
If you think that word games only consist of Scrabble, then you might want to consider trying out Cranium Cariboo if you want a change of pace. In this game, players will be using cards that contain pictures instead of letters. The person who is going first draws a card from the deck and has to try and guess a word that starts with the picture they have drawn. Then, it’s up to the other players to draw from the remaining cards in order to come up with clues so that the first player can guess the word correctly. The first player to go through all of the cards in order wins.
Cheat!
If you and your friends love to make up your own rules, then Cheat! is perfect for you. This game also has its own version of house rules where you are not allowed to make too many up on your own. When it’s their turn, players will draw a card from the pile of face-down letters and do whatever that letter says on the bottom half of the card which usually consists of making up a rule or stealing someone else’s points. During each round, there are no turns since players must call out what they want their cards to say instead.
Upwords
If you are looking for a game that is fast-paced and requires quick thinking, then Upwords might be the perfect fit. This board game is similar to Scrabble since players will draw tiles from a bag in order to come up with words. However, instead of having tiles with letters on them, your tiles will have different colours where one side has a coloured letter and the other side has two white letters. The first player who manages to place down all their pieces wins!
Balderdash
One of the most popular word games ever created is Balderdash. This game can take quite some time but it’s usually played by four or more people so you won’t get bored. Before you begin, everyone has to take turns writing down unusual definitions to certain words that the other players will use during their turn in order to try and fool them. The other players will then have up to three minutes to write down what they think it means before reading out each definition one at a time while everyone tries to guess which answer is the real meaning of the word.
Words With Friends
If your friends are constantly glued onto their phones or tablets, then this might be the perfect game for them! Players can enjoy building words using tiles with different letters on them that are played against another opponent who is playing at the same time. During each turn, there are 100 seconds where players must choose one set of seven letters in order to make the longest word they can think of. Once you run out of tiles, you lose the round and it’s up to your opponent to see if they can beat your score.
Scattergories
This is a game that will get everyone laughing since there are no turns or time limits involved! It’s best played by 4-12 people but if you have more than twelve players then just select multiple teams instead. One person will be chosen to go first while each player has to quickly come up with words for different categories without repeating any other player. For instance, someone might write down “fruit” for an apple piece of fruit, banana, orange etc… Whoever comes up with the most words in each category wins!
Boggle
If you’re looking for a fun word game that is best-played solo, then Boggle might be perfect for you. Players must take turns shaking a plastic grid containing 16 cubes until all the cubes have stopped moving. Once they have stopped, players will look on the board and make as many words as they can out of the letters that appear on top of each cube. The person who creates more words than anyone else wins!
Woof Woof
This is definitely one of those games that your friends won’t stop laughing about since it’s so hilarious and random! Players will go around giving clues to other players in order to get them to guess the word on the bottom of the board. For example, if your friend had “YOLO” on their card, you might say something like, “You only live once!” in order for everyone else to laugh and guess what it is.
There are endless possibilities when it comes to word games but these ones will definitely keep you and your friends entertained for hours! Even if you don’t have a ton of people to play with, you can simply select the solitaire option on some of the games such as Scrabble and Boggle to start playing right away. Also, remember that your parents probably played these games too so they might want to join in as well! If they’re feeling competitive then maybe try Balderdash or Words With Friends! No matter how many people you have playing or which game you choose, be sure to make it fun and enjoyable for everyone since nobody likes a boring game. Other than that, go ahead and give each one of these a try as soon as possible!
