Fossil Gen 6 was officially confirmed by Fossil last week, and now some information about the watch has come to light.
Fossil has said that the fastest smartwatch is coming, most likely referring to the fact that the Fossil Gen 6 will be faster than its predecessor. It would make sense if the smartwatch would run Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon Wear 4100+ system. The latest wearable chipset’s 12nm Cortex-A53 core is a huge leap in performance compared to the 28nm Snapdragon Wear 3100, which uses the older Cortex-A7 core.
However, WinFuture’s exposure didn’t reveal the watch’s internal upgrades. On the outside, there aren’t many changes in the design, except for a “guard” on the side of the smartwatch’s middle button on the “men’s” model. The watch will feature a 1.28-inch 416×416 OLED screen in 42mm and 44mm cases. The wristband options will include leather, fabric and metal, and the watch is expected to survive up to 50 meters of water.
The watch is equipped with typical sensors and tracking features, including step count, sleep, and even blood oxygen concentration detection. Built-in GPS is used to track runs. In typical usage, a smartwatch can last a day, Fossil said.

The watch will run Wear OS. Google says the Wear OS 2 smartwatch will have some Wear OS 3 features. Whether Fossil Gen 6 will be upgraded to Wear OS 3 next year, however, it remains an open question.
