At the beginning of the year, Motorola presented the Edge S as the first top of the range of 2021 and the first to have a Snapdragon 870 under the body. After about six months, the company also introduces Edge S Pro in China, which it brings with it further improvements and appease all the shortcomings of the younger brother.
The Motorola Edge S Pro offers a much better design than its sibling. There is a hole in the display to enclose the front camera. While on the rear body, we find a vertical layout to enclose the three rear cameras. The company declares that it is also one of the thinnest top of the range, measuring only 7.9mm and 189 grams weight only.
The first upgrade is found in the display, via the LCD one, and inside a 6.7-inch 10-bit OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and 576Hz touch. It supports HDR10 +, SGS for eye protection, DCI-P3 color gamut, and billions of colors.
However, the processor does not change, the choice remains on the Snapdragon 870, apparently also for some overheating problems of the Snapdragon 888. 12GB of LPDDR5 Turbo RAM and up to 256GB of UTF 3.1 Turbo storage are coupled.
The Motorola Edge S Pro has three rear cameras, of which the main one is 108MP, then there is an 8MP periscope with OIS, 5x optical zoom, and 50x digital zoom, and a 16MP 121° ultrawide angle camera that doubles as a macro camera. For selfies, there is a 32MP camera.
The battery has a capacity of 4520mAh, unfortunately, smaller than its brother, which has a 5000mAh one. But there is support for 30W TurboPower fast charging. Motorola Edge S Pro runs with MYUI 2.0 based on Android 11. Among the novelties, it brings new icons, backgrounds, fonts, and a Moto AI cam.
The Motorola Edge S Pro launched in three colors and four configurations. Below are their prices:
- 6GB RAM + 128GB = ¥2399 (~$371)
- 8GB RAM + 128GB = ¥2699 (~$418)
- 8GB RAM + 256GB = ¥2999 (~$464)
- 12GB RAM + 256GB = ¥3299 (~$511)
The Motorola Edge S Pro will be available for pre-order starting tonight at 9 PM (China time) and will go on sale on August 10 at 10 AM.
