Samsung is set to release its Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 foldable phones on August 11, and now a source close to the company says they will be the first foldable devices that are waterproof to the IPX8 level.
Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 phones are IPX8 waterproof, meaning they will be able to stay in water more than one meter deep for more than 30 minutes.
However, dust protection is more important for foldable phones because of the hinge, which can easily pick up dust, though the source did not say whether the Samsung phones will support dust protection.
Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 3 is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 888/+ chip, with a 6.7-inch internal display, 120Hz refresh rate and a 3300mAh battery with 15W charging.
Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 3 will feature an advanced off-screen proactive solution powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 processor, with a 7.55-inch interior and 6.23-inch exterior.
