One of the best things about our smartphones is the ability to communicate at the touch of a button, whether that be through calls, Facetime, WhatsApp, or messaging. But did you know there are tons of apps out there that can also place you at the very heart of warm and friendly communities?
There are several apps out there that are great for forming new friendships, and below you’ll find five of our favourites…
Words Games
Many board games have seamlessly made the transition into apps, and word games have done so just about the best. With games like Words With Friends 2 and Scrabble you can not only play against friends, but also new people from all around the world, and with in-built chat functions they are fantastic for making new buddies.
The games themselves play in the same way as Scrabble, with players required to make words from the tiled letters they are given. Just try not to get too competitive.
Bingo
Online bingo has really boomed over the last few years, and many players are enjoying the popular pastime through their mobile device. There have been tons of new variants land over the past few years. Slingo bingo is a fun example of how far the game has come, and brands like Moon Bingo are welcoming thousands of players daily. Many of their bingo rooms have chat rooms these days, where players can chat about the game or their day and be part of a mini community, just as you would in a real like bingo hall.
It seems obvious, but many of us don’t utilise Facebook effectively. The Facebook app will of course allow you to connect with friends, but it can create friendships far beyond the people we already know and love. Join groups that interest you and you may find like-minded people that become friends for life.
Golden
Golden is an app which has goodness right at its heart. The app is designed for people that are interested in volunteering for organisations and allows you to find people and companies who are in need of help. There are also social elements to this app, with the ability to upload images, experiences, and ratings of the organisations you have helped, as well as being able to invite friends to volunteer at upcoming events. It’s available for both iOS and Android and is an app that is ever-growing in popularity.
Budge
Budge is an app that allows you to connect with friends and challenge them to various things and activities. At the heart of that is doing good for local communities and raising money and awareness for worthwhile causes. You can set up challenges and competitions with entry fees, with the money then being donated to a cause of your choice. It’s a wonderful app to invite your friends or colleagues into and creates a wholesome and fun community where not only you benefit, but those in need do too.
