At the event yesterday, in addition to launching new Mi 11 series phones as well as the new Mi Band 6 smart band, Xiaomi also introduced a new smart film projector, named Xiaomi Mi Smart Projector 2 Pro. In fact, this is not a completely new product but the MIJIA Projector 2 Pro that was launched in China around July of last year. However, this global version comes with Google Assistant built-in and runs on Android TV.
According to Xiaomi, the new Xiaomi Mi Smart Projector 2 Pro is capable of projecting images between 60 and 120 inches, with native resolution in Full HD (1920 × 1080 pixels, or 1080p) and maximum brightness marked at 1300 lumens. This content can appear with HDR10 on a wall or any other surface.
The projection has the help of automatic focus on a front camera, together with a ToF sensor, promising clear images with less than two seconds of work. An internal system also corrects all dimensions of the screen without the user having to rotate any fine adjustments. The maximum angle for this type of adjustment is 40 degrees, eliminating any distortion that may appear.
Projectors do not usually deliver a very positive audio experience, which is hardly an exception for the Mi Smart Projector 2 Pro. Even so, the Xiaomi device tries to do its part for those who do not have external speakers, by inserting two sets of speakers within the gadget itself, with 10 watts of power divided between two tweeters and two more woofers.
The system is compatible with DTS-HD and Dolby Audio for any content that is currently playing. The projector can also be used as an external speaker, receiving audio from a source via Bluetooth connection and without turning on the lamp for projecting the image.
All of this can also be used with the help of Android TV, which ends up delivering a series of streaming apps, such as YouTube, Disney +, Paramount +, Netflix (this one comes pre-installed), Amazon Prime Video, Globoplay, Spotify, Amazon Music, Deezer, and TuneIn. Another way to upload content also takes advantage of a feature on any device with this operating system: Chromecast.
All control of these applications can be done with the help of remote control, smartphone and tablet application, or with Google Assistant with voice. The presence of this personal assistant also allows the control of several connected home devices.
Price
Xiaomi Mi Smart Projector 2 Pro will sell for a suggested retail price of 999 euros, but at the start of sales of it can be bought from 899.7 euros. Recall that the Mi 11 Pro, Mi 11 Ultra, Mi 11i, Mi 11 Lite 5G and Mi 11 Lite smartphones also debuted yesterday at the event, as well as the Mi Band 6 fitness tracker and charging for three gadgets at the same time. The second part of the presentation will take place today.
