In the third quarter of this year, Samsung Electronics unveiled a new generation of fold-screen phones, expected to be called Galaxy Z Fold 3. South Korean media ETNews reported yesterday that Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 has confirmed that it will support the S Pen stylus for the first time.
Samsung has successfully implemented the technically-difficult stylus function. This indicates that Samsung will remain at the forefront of the world when it comes to foldable phone technology.
Samsung Electronics is said to be fully prepared to start mass production of the related components in May and the foldable phone in July, which is still expected to be released in the third quarter.
South Korean media have pointed out that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is a foldable model with a vertical hinge at the center and a screen that folds left and right.
We learned that making foldable OLED panels and UTG glass easy to bend and withstand nib pressure without fraying was a difficult task, especially as the stylus needed to be high precision and smooth.
It is reported that after years of research and development (R&D), Samsung Electronics has mastered the core technologies of components, materials and so on to achieve the stylus function.
“We have developed technologies such as digital sensors that respond to stylus input and UTG,” said an industry source familiar with Samsung’s foldable phone development. “I know we have finished our preparations and prepared a pre-production periodic table for the device.”
Samsung responded by saying: “We are not in a position to disclose content related to our upcoming product launches.”

According to one digital blogger, the UTG’s overall durability and flatness are definitely better than plastic’s. The Samsung Fold 3‘s UTG is the third generation technology. As the glass thickness increases, the MoHS hardness increases to 5, making it easy to handle the writing of Spen.
