It appears that the Chinese giant Xiaomi is unlikely to drop the spotlight anytime soon. In addition to having confirmed that it will bring news from the Black Shark 4 today, new rumors indicate that Xiaomi should reveal its Redmi K40 later this month, with a pleasant surprise.
According to the leaker Digital Chat Station, which has a good history of leaks related to Xiaomi, the Redmi K40 should be revealed after the 20th of January. The specific date is due to the manufacturer waiting for the launch of its main component: the successor to the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+.
The supposed Dimensity 2000, as it may be called, should be made official on January 20, bringing with it the legacy of 1000+. Although it did not reach the powerful Kirin 9000 from Huawei or Snapdragon 865, the old chip from MediaTek was praised for reaching a new level of performance, never before seen on chips from the manufacturer, allied to its high cost-benefit.
According to previous leaks, the MediaTek MT6893 has performance that even surpassed even Qualcomm’s top 2020 SoCs in a benchmark test. Now, it has achieved a higher score in the AnTuTu benchmark. MediaTek MT6893 is manufactured in a 6nm process and it comes with four Cortex-A78 CPU cores, consisting of one main core running at up to 3.0GHz and three cores capped at 2.6GHz.
There are also four power-saving A55 cores. It also integrates the Mali-G77 MC9 GPU. As mentioned above, the chipset is targeting near-high-end phones in 2021. Anyway, if the new leak proves, it won’t be long before we get to know the new generation of the K-line (Redmi K40 ), which should still have a robust set of cameras, as indicated by leaks of its peculiar design.
