Finally, the moment of the most talked-about smartphone in recent months has arrived. Xiaomi officially presented Mi 11 live streaming on Weibo. But, this time Xiaomi did not follow the regular Mi 10 and did not offer a Pro model. Instead, it preferred to focus on a single phone, the Xiaomi Mi 11. The capabilities of the Snapdragon 888 are enhanced by 8 / 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128 / 256GB UFS 3.1 storage.
In terms of design, the Mi 11 slightly changes its philosophy compared to the previous generation: its back indeed sports a square-shaped module with very rounded edges, in which another module is nestled this time rectangular, but still with rounded edges. The latter accommodates two vertical cameras, accompanied by a third sensor located on their right.
There is a hole for the front camera, with which you can shoot selfies of up to 20MP and its panel will be protected by Gorilla Glass Victus protective glass, the latest from the manufacturer Corning. This new generation promises to be twice as resistant to scratches while supporting drops from 2 meters in height without damaging the screen.
Xiaomi has also focused its efforts on the weight and thickness of its phone: 196 grams and 8.06 mm, against 208 grams and 9 mm on the Mi 10. These are small adjustments that should make the terminal more comfortable in the hand.
What definitely makes the Mi 11 stand out is its screen, as it is the market leader. At 6.81 inches, the E4 OLED display offers a wealth of features. It has a maximum brightness of 1771 nits (1500nits normal), 5,000,000: 1 contrast ratio, 480Hz touch refresh rate, 120Hz four-level floating refresh rate, 2K resolution, and 15% reduction in power consumption. In fact, according to Xiaomi, the Mi 11 broke 13 records in DisplayMate, including OLED screen brightness, screen reflection, contrast, and color accuracy.
In terms of photography, precisely, Xiaomi has opted for the main camera of 108MP (f / 1.85), an ultra-wide-angle of 13MP (FOV of 123 °, f / 2.4), and a 5MP (f / 2.4) macro sensor for capturing objects up close. It is therefore one sensor less than on the Xiaomi Mi 10, but that does not mean that it will be less efficient in this area.
Other highlights include Wi-Fi 6 and the presence of stereo speakers from Harman Kardon. The Xiaomi Mi 11 will also be released with the latest version of MIUI: MIUI 12.5 in this case, which will bring with it a whole lot of new features.
Its 4600mAh battery can be recharged thanks to a 55 W fast charge, which will allow it to recover all of its autonomy in the space of 45 minutes, against 53 minutes thanks to a wireless charge of 50W. Finally, a 10W reverse wireless charging completes it all.
A few hours before the conference, Xiaomi had confirmed that there will be no charger in the box of the Mi 11, like the iPhone 12 from Apple. Finally, two options will be offered to the user: a box with the phone only, or another with the phone and a 55 W charger considered as a separate bundle. Both will be at the same price 3999 yuan ($610): in short, the customer considers whether or not he needs a new charger.
The phone is available in five colors: green-blue, blue, purple, and brown, with the latter two trimmed with leather. In addition, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Special Edition will be available to buyers, which will boast a corrugated back cover that can change its color depending on the lighting.
The cost of a smartphone in the base configuration with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of permanent memory costs 3999 yuan ($610). The version with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of ROM will cost 4299 yuan ($660). The most advanced modification with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is priced at 4699 yuan ($720), the same will have to be paid for the Mi 11 Special Edition.
The launch in China of the Xiaomi Mi 11 is scheduled for January 1. We will have to wait a few more weeks before knowing more about the price and the launch date in Europe.
