Recently, the China Telecom website exposed the price information of the Reno 5 series. As per the information available on the website, the Oppo Reno 5 price will start at 3299 (approx $504) for the base 8GB + 128GB while its 12GB + 256GB variant will come with a price tag of 3699 yuan (approx $565). The Pro model price will reportedly be priced at 3899 (approx $596) and 4299 yuan (approx $657) for the same storage options.
In terms of processors, previous revelations showed that OPPO Reno 5 is equipped with Snapdragon 765G processor, while Reno 5 Pro uses Dimensity 1000 Plus processor.
After the news came out, Lu Weibing, Redmi’s president of Group and general manager, “can’t sit still”, and he posted two posts to suspect the “unreasonable” price of OPPO’s phones.
Lu Weibing stated on Weibo that Redmi Note 9 Pro launched the Snapdragon 750G processor for the first time, with a comprehensive performance score of more than 350,000 points, which is surpassing the approximately 330,000+ performance of the Snapdragon 765G released a year ago. So “If the new product in 2021 is equipped with the Snapdragon 765G and the price is about 3000 yuan ($458), what do you think?”
Then, he said in another post, “In 2021, if the new Smartphone equipped with the Dimensity 1000 Plus will sell for 3000 yuan ($458) – 4000 yuan ($612), what do you think?” As a comparison, Lu Weibing listed the information of the Redmi K30 Extreme Commemorative Edition, which is equipped with a Dimensity 1000 Plus processor, and the starting price is 1999 yuan.
What I want to show here is that Lu Weibing did not clearly indicate that the new Smartphone he was talking about is the OPPO Reno 5 series, but combined with recent information, it is not difficult for us to find this.
