ByteDance, known as the owner of TikTok, as promised, unveiled today its second smartphone, the Smartisan Nut R2, not Nut Pro 4, as suggested by the network sources. The new Smartisan Nut R2 comes with a curved full screen, Snapdragon 865, 100MP lens and 5G network. In fact, we haven’t heard from Smartisan for a long time. And after the rebranding, this is the first conference and the first smartphone.
The exterior of the phone is pure white from front to back. Interestingly, the company only produced 2000 pure white phones. There are no plans to produce a pure white version in the future. Moreover, it could be the last pure white phone in the history of smartphones.
Along with that, there is also Smartisan Nut R2 Revolution 2 Light Shine Special Edition that shows a textured pattern on the phone’s back panel when the device is subject to direct sunlight. Furthermore, Nut R2 is also available in black and green.
On a 5G smartphone, there can be an average of 6 to 7 checkpoints. But this greatly spoils the beauty and integrity of the phone. Thus, the Nut team removed the antenna points one by one, creating a bright metallic middle frame. And this does not affect the signal at all.
The Smartisan Nut R2 features a 6.67-inch Full HD + AMOLED screen with a screen resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels, along with a 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch latency.
Under the hood, the device is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, which combines eight Kryo 585 computing cores with a clock speed of up to 2.84 GHz and an Adreno 650 graphics accelerator. It supports 5G networks with non-autonomous (NSA) and autonomous (SA) architectures. The device supports dual mode 5G connectivity, along with Wi-Fi 6 and NFC.
The device carries on board up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and a UFS 3.1 flash drive with a capacity of up to 512GB, making it one of the few phones to have such a high memory configuration. The phone is running Smartisan OS 8.0, which is based on the Android operating system.
Arriving at the camera department, it has a quad camera setup on the rear that includes a primary 108MP sensor, an 8MP telephoto lens, a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 5MP macro lens. The camera setup supports 3x optical zoom and 30x hybrid zoom and 8K time-lapse photography. On the front, it has a 20MP snapper, meeting the needs of selfie and video calling.
It comes with stereo speakers and DTS audio. There is also a new slide button on the side that can quickly put the phone in silent mode. The smartphone is powered by a 4510mAh battery that supports 55W fast charging technology.
The Smartisan Nut R2 will start selling in China on November 11. Depending on the modification, the smartphone will cost 8GB + 128GB: 4499 yuan ($677) 8GB + 256GB: 4799 yuan ($722) 12GB + 256GB: 5299 yuan ($797) 16GB + 512GB: 6499 yuan ($977) and Revolution 2 Light Shine Special Edition: 6499 yuan ($977).
