In a recent interview with Tech Radar, Carl Pei, the founder of OnePlus, lifted the veil on several key points from the technical sheet for the OnePlus Nord, which is about to launch. “We felt that the technology was not really there to be able to create a mid-range product that also lived up to our“ Never Settle ”philosophy. But we are fairly confident that this time, the OnePlus Nord will be up to the task, ” assures Carl Pei, half-admitting the failure of the OnePlus X, the brand’s latest mid-range.
Carl Pei also has promised that the OnePlus Nord is equipped with a high-end camera. “With the OnePlus Nord, we are offering a flagship-level camera in the mid-range, which I think will be very exciting for consumers,” said the manager. The latest news is that the OnePlus Nord has a quadruple photosensor with a 64MP main module.
As the leaks wanted, the smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s SoC Snapdragon 765G. Engraved in 7 nm, the chipset is compatible with 5G. Unsurprisingly, the OnePlus Nord will therefore be compatible with the 5G network, like the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. For Carl Pei, the integration of 5G makes the smartphone “a solution for the future”. Terminal users will indeed be ready when the first 5G plans are marketed.
On the other hand, the SoC Snapdragon 765G from Qualcomm is not compatible with 90 or 120 Hz screens. As you might expect, the phone will have to compose with a screen with a refresh rate of 60 Hz. As a reminder, OnePlus will present the OnePlus Nord at a conference in India on July 10, 2020.
