At the end of 2019, Xiaomi applied for a patent to the National Intellectual Property Office of China. The patent was published only today, it contains interesting images of a smartphone that Xiaomi may release in the near future.
It is worth starting with the fact that we are talking about a smartphone with a bendable screen that resembles Huawei Mate Xs and Royole Flexpai 2. When folded, the screen is fixed on a latch.
On the right side are the on / off and volume buttons of the smartphone. Xiaomi’s patented foldable phone has a microphone both on top and bottom. In addition, there is a speaker and a USB-C connector at the bottom of the mobile device.
Speaking about the camera, it is worth noting the presence of four image sensors, as well as an LED flash, consisting of two modules. An oval button has also been placed directly under the camera system. It probably serves to control the closure of the flexible display. The screen is fixed by a click system, pressing the button will release this mechanism, after which you can fold the rear screen part towards the front.
Ross Young, founder of research companies Display Supply Chain Consultants and DisplaySearch, said Xiaomi will unambiguously present its first foldable smartphone in the very near future. However, it is still unknown whether it will look like a prototype shown in these sketches or some other device.
